The X PlusOne is a hybrid drone that offers stabilized hover and fast forward flight. There are many companies working on the same type of technology, but this drone is different.
Basically the X PlusOne is a quadcopter combined with a flying wing, which enables you to shoot fast objects outdoors. The drone is easy to use and self-stabilizes in both hover and forward flight modes. It combines multi-rotor capabilities with high speed flight from its fixed wing. Transitioning between the two modes is a matter of simply flipping a switch.
The quadcopter can fly nose first at over 60 mph, twice as fast as a traditional quadcopter. The X PlusOne is also an aerial drone. It comes with an array of filming apparatus, from a simple mini DV camera to the action video standard GoPro. When used in “hover” mode, the X PlusOne performs perfectly smooth vertical take-off and landing. So far the only drawback is that the flight time per battery charge is only 10 to 15 minutes.
JD Claridge is the visionary and inventor of the X PlusOne. With the X Plus One you could fly your own autonomous missions for fun, auto-track a fast car with the ‘follow me’ feature, or perform high speed aerial mapping. If funding for the X PlusOne goes well, the company will offer ‘X PlusOne Ai’ which is an autonomous high speed VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) drone with the Pixhawk Controller.
