Do you have a small apartment? Need a spot for guests to sleep? Adding a hidden Murphy bed is a good idea and there’s an easy plan involved. The bed folds away into a cabinet that looks like an armoire. Now if you go by the obvious way, that being buying one, you’ll end up paying loads of money for a bed. Why pay for something when you can build it at home? That is what ‘Geeky Builds’ is all about and this DIY project undertaken by this geek proved to be successful. He solved his small space problem in a unique way by completing a DIY project.
It all started with four sheets of plywood, cut down to the desired sizes.
He applied edge banding tape on the boards and stained the wood.
He then laid out the cabinet pieces in the space to make sure it fit correctly.
Here you have it….all assembled!
Once the cabinet was complete, it was time to piece it together…
Here’s the bed frame.
He stained the bed frame to match the cabinet.
Once the frame was installed, he added the mattress.
With the doors closed, it looks like a regular wardrobe.
…..Open it up and voila!!! It’s a bed. It doesn’t come with the cat though.
Ideal for small spaces and looks pretty cool, like a hidden passageway, a porthole into another world like “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. It’s also great for guests.
