The Scribble Pen is one of those amazing things that are present in our imagination but we never expected them to become a reality. This pen allows you to draw in any possible color only by scanning things around you.
It is the world’s first color picking pen integrated with a color sensor and microprocessor for the detection and processing of whichever color you want to duplicate. All you need to do is to place the top of the Scribble Pen (where the sensor is situated) on the object that you want to scan and this high tech pen will copy its exact color. For example, if you want to draw a rose flower in its precise shade of red or the leaves of a particular tree in its shade of green, all you need to do is scan it with your Scribble Pen and you are ready to draw your rose or tree.
As soon as the Scribble Pen detects and processes the color of the object, a smart micro pump inside it mixes colors from an innovative ink cartridge to replicate the exact shade and tone of the object’s color. It has been claimed by the website of the Scribble Pen that the ink is water resistant and will never fade away. It has not been stated yet that how long these smart ink cartridges will keep going, nevertheless as per the inventors you can “write for miles with each generous, affordable ink cartridge.”
There are two types of the Scribble Pen: one of them permits you to sketch on paper whereas the other one uses the real ink and a smart stylus that allows you to duplicate the scanned colors digitally on smartphone or tablet. Both of them are available with three distinct tips for different stroke weights, and also include Bluetooth connectivity in order to help users in saving the colors they’ve scanned before on several devices. The battery of this amazing pen is said to last about seven hours on a single charge, after that you can charge it via a USB cable.
The Scribble pen costs $249, however, before you order it, there is something you must be familiar with. The inventors of the Scribble Pen began a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 to create this device. Hence, they asked for $100,000 and raised an enormous amount of $366,566. But, due to lack of information given by Scribble about how the Pen operated and being unable to create a working prototype, this campaign was cancelled in the end. According to the reports by Mashable, the sponsors were never refunded. After this, another attempt was made by the company at crowdfunding the smart pen, this time on Tilt. They raised $227,540 and cancelled again, but this time the sponsors got their money back.
The company is selling the Scribble Pens directly to the customers through its website. However, despite some inspiring presentation videos, we need to witness a real proof if the pen actually works as mentioned or not. We will soon find this out.
